Ally Action Project Week 19: Voting Safely

As we enter this last week before the presidential/general election, we examined several safety concerns with the election process. In previous weeks we explained the importance of voting, of knowing the policies of the person you vote for, and where to vote early. This week, we stress the importance of the CDC guidelines, how to know if you are in a 'danger zone' with less reported mask wearing in your area, and just how many americans have already voted in the election.

We began the week on the topic of CDC guidelines for voter safety. They of course reference the standard 6ft social distance, as well as specific recommendations about how to report infractions of safety and whom to report that to. They provide guidelines for how the polling workers should santize to keep everyone safe, as well as how a voter personally could expect to stay safe and clean.

We link this with COVIDcast, an online data aggregator with helpful information about mask rates per county, which we recommended voters use to decide on a polling location and time to go, in order to reduce the likelihood of infection. With 80 Million votes already cast in the election, the 2020 General Election has already broken voter turnout records in nearly every state. In-person voting starts in just 2 days, be an ally and go vote!
